Be Part of Our Mission: Create a Healthier Community Together

Dear Community Members,

We are excited to extend an invitation to join Surrey Urban Farmers Market Association as a volunteer. We are a nonprofit organisation dedicated to supporting local farmers and small independent businesses that make/bake/grow/raise/catch or wild harvest what they sell. Providing fresh, nutritious produce, food products and unique arts and crafts to our urban community.

Our market is set within the spacious Royal Kwantlen Park, offering additional amenities, including a playground, picnic areas, a small skate park, a pool, restrooms, and sports fields. We are on a main bus route and short walk from Surrey Central. A vibrant, multi-cultural non-profit farmers market benefiting the diverse community.

Surrey Urban Farmers Market is fairly new to its location and is already a significant economic player in Surrey, injecting nearly $490,000 annually into the local economy, according to a recent impact study. Approximately 13,079 people visit the farmers’ market each season. We support the local arts, entertainers and economy. We are an important key food security in Surrey with the food nutrition coupon program.

We are committed to promoting sustainable agriculture, supporting small farmers and small independent businesses, fostering strong community connections. Whether you have experience in food systems, agriculture, marketing, finance, administration, event planning, or simply a love for fresh, local food and supporting local, there is a place for you in our organisation. We welcome applications to join our board of directors, volunteers, supporters, and anyone interested in contributing to a healthier, more sustainable community. With your passion and skills, you can significantly impact our mission.

  4. Event Coordination: Help organise special events, workshops, or demonstrations that take place at the market.
  5. Marketing and Outreach: Promote the market through social media, flyers, and community outreach to attract more visitors and vendors.
  6. Food Access Programs: Assist with programs that provide fresh produce to low-income families, such as managing food voucher distributions.

  8. Sustainability Initiatives: Help implement and promote eco-friendly practices, such as waste reduction and recycling programs.
